Moving July 11/2008
After 5 years at the Distillery, Marie Josette is leaving. Our last day that we will be open to the public will be Friday, July 11th. We will be moving to a new studio — but, first we are taking a long and well deserved holiday. Then in early fall 2008, we move into our new location. We will keep you posted with all of the details. Sample Sale May 23-25/2008
Marie Josette invites you and a friend to our first ever sample sale. This is a one time only event. Prices have been reduced to half on many of our classic style hand-dyed and handwoven jacket samples. This is a 3-day sale, starting on Friday, May 23rd from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Saturday, May 24th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday, May 25th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. (Please note that all sales are final. Only minor alterations will be done for the samples.) We will be showing our latest works from our Marie Josette line of jackets, capes and shawls.
Showing in our wearable art gallery for the month of May will be new work from Lucy Slykerman (www.lucyslykerman.ca) with her new line of beautiful screenprinted silk scarves. Ania Dymarz (www.allan-dymarzstudios.com) has brought in some new and exciting bags. Maureen Harding (www.dreamspinfibres.ca) has created a spring/summer line of her felted scarves and shawls. Beverly Couse's handknitted "neck snakes" are wonderful scarves that wear as a piece of jewellery. Reet Triefeldt has returned with her magnificently handknitted lacy shawls.
Doors Open takes place this same weekend. Take the opportunity to stroll through the Casegoods Warehouse and meet some of the resident artists. Days and hours are as follows. Just for Us Originals April 5/2008

Marie Josette will be showing and selling at the second annual Just for Us Originals, an event dedicated to celebrating women and Canadian women artists athe Old Mill in Toronto or Saturday, April 5th. The day starts at 10:00 am and goes until 4:00 pm. You can spend the day by participating in a workshop or two; enjoy a delicious lunch from the chefs at the Old Mill, followed by a fashion show. Go shopping amongst the 25 women artists from artwear designers, jewellers and more. Prelude to Just for Us March 5 - April 4/2008
Marie Josette is hosting a prelude show and sale of some of the wearable art artists who will be featured at this year's Just for Us Originals. To whet your appetite we are featuring the work of Bonnie Glass (www.bonnieglass.com) with her collage wearagle art coats, Peggy Mearsereau with her unique scarves and neckpieces; Maureen Harding's (www.dreamspinfibres.ca) fabulous felted scarves and shawls; and Marie Josette's hand-dyed handwoven wearable art jackets and capes. Just for Us Originals is a one day event that will be taking place on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Old Mill In Toronto. It is a day all about women and Canadian women artists. There are workshops, a luncheon, fashion show and shopping. Choose from a variety of packages to enjoy the day. Come In Out Of The Cold February 15 - 17/2008
Josette invites you and a friend to a weekend event to brighten your winter blues. She has been working on a special line of caplets, shoulder wraps and stoles. All are one-of-a-kind pieces that will keep you in style and warm thru the remainder of the winter and bring you fashionably into spring. There will be hot chocolate and cookies to warm you up will you shop. Remember too to check out our featured artists for the month of February. Wearable Art Gallery February/2008
This month in showing in our wearable art gallery, we are featuring a new artist, Ania Dymarz of Allan-Dymarz Studios (www.allan-dymarzstudios.com) with her uniquely inspired handstitched leather bags and purses. Lucy Slykerman (www.lucyslykerman.ca) continues so show and sell her hand-dyed handwoven scarves using only the finest silks, rayon chenilles and tencel. Maureen Harding (www.dreamspinfibres.ca) with her fabulous felted scarves and shawls that are luscious however you decide to wear them. Beverly Couse's one-of-a-kind knitted hats will have you wishing for a few more snowy days.


Wearable Art Gallery January/2008
Happy New Year. Marie and Josette wish you a fabulous 2008 with much excitement and adventure. We also hope that you will make our studio one of your destinations in the coming year as we will be having a number of exciting events in the studio this year. We will keep you posted. Moose Show November 15 - 17/2007
MarieJosette will again be attending this year's The Moose Show, which brings together talented and innovative artisans who are dedicated to excellence in their craft. We will be showing and selling new wearable art jackets, shawls and scarves. The show is held in the Barbara Frum Atrium & Lobby of the CBC Broadcasting Centre, 250 Front Street West (corner of Front & John). The show hours are as follows: Thursday, November 15th and Friday, November 16th, from 10:00am-8:00pm , and Saturday, November 17th, from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Wrapped In Art/Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival October 26-28/2007
The Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival has invited Marie Josette to showcase Wrapped In Art in conjunction with the festival's 20th anniversary. If you are planning on checking out this year's festival make sure that you drop by and see our show Wrapped In Art which features some of Canada's prominent textile artists with their wraps, shawls and capes. Wrapped In Art/Nuit Blanche Opening: September 29/2007-October 30, 2007

Marie Josette will be participating in this year's Scotiabank Nuit Blanche event. We will be hosting an exhibition and sale of innovative wearable art shawls, capes and wraps by prominent and emerging Canadian and International textile artists. Just For Us March 24/07
Marie Josette will be part of the first annual Just For Us, an event dedicated to women and for women a the Old Mill in Toronto on March 24th. Starting at 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, you will spend the morning attending two of four fun-filled workshops. Enjoy lunch with friends while watching a wearable art fashion show featuring the works of Marie Josette, Bonnie Glass and Pat Burns Wendland. After lunch enjoy shopping at the Artisans' Fair featuring women artists/designers from jewellers, portrait artists, photographers and more. We will also have a booth in the Artisans' Fair, we will be offering a one day only special promotion on our exclusive wearable art jackets. This is an opportunity you may not want to miss.

New for 2007 Weaving and Sewing Classes
Learn to Weave
Marie Payne will be teaching weaving classes this spring in the studio here at the Distillery District. She brings over 30 years experience as a weaver, having studied extensively across North America.
Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm for 6 weeks. Cost is $250.00 + $25.00 table loom rental

Learn to Sew
Josette Luyckx will be offering private lessons beginning in February. She has over 20 years experience as a designer, having learnt her skills from extensive training from George Brown College and Ryerson University. Classes are custom tailored to each individual's goals. It does not matter if you are a novice sewer or in need of a refresher.

Toronto Alternative Fashion Week October 17 -19/06
Marie and Josette will be participating at this year's opening of Toronto Alternative Fashion Week. It all takes place at The Fermenting Cellar at The Distillery from October 17 - 19th. Join them on the 17th from 8pm to 1am with an evening of Fantasy as they showcase their wearable art jackets and shawls in the Creative Corner. The evening will immerse you in a world of fantasy with other fashion collections, installations, video, performance art and music. Tickets are $10.00 at the door.
